Your employees must take their LGPS pension benefits by age 75.

What this means for you as an employer

Our employer services team will contact you when an employee is approaching their 75th birthday. They will provide you with the employee’s details and advise that they are approaching, or in some instances have passed, their 75th birthday. You will need to stop deducting contributions and make the member a leaver on your next monthly i-Connect submission.

Your employee can continue to work but you would need to make them a leaver with a date of leaving 2 days before their 75th birthday.

Our member services team require you to complete the online leaver form and uploading this to the employee’s i-Connect record.

Employee has reached age 75 leaver form

This should be submitted no earlier than 1 month and 2 days before the employees 75th birthday.

If the employee has already passed their 75th birthday and continues to make contributions the employer would be responsible for refunding these contributions.
